Importance of Pediatric Surgeons in Antenatally Councils

The fact that the pregnant and their families are not satisfied with the decisions made in the antenatal councils and the desire to get ideas from different centers lead to the opinion that the pediatric surgeons either do not take part in the council at all or do not take an active role. Here, in 3 different cases who applied to us, the decision to terminate the pregnancy was recommended to the families, but the families did not accept this recommendation and decided to give birth. The diagnosis of Esophageal Atresia, Diaphragmatic Hernia, and Posterior Urethral Valve, which can be successfully terminated and will not have sequelae throughout their postoperative life, is a subject that needs to be discussed.
In this presentation, we wanted to share the belief that pediatric surgeons should be an indispensable permanent part of antenatal councils by sampling these three cases, and that their active role will also reduce the question marks in the decisions of the council in pregnant women and their families.
Antenatal Konseylerde Çocuk Cerrahlarının Önemi

Gebe ve ailelerinin, antenatal konseylerde çıkan kararlar karşısında tatmin olmaması ve farklı merkezlerden fikir alma isteği sonucu karşılaşılan vakalarda çocuk cerrahlarının konseyde ya hiç yer almadığı, ya da etkin rol almadığı kanısına yol açmaktadır. Burada tarafımıza başvuran 3 farklı olguda ailelere gebeliğin terminasyonu kararı tavsiye edilmiş ancak aileler bu tavsiye kararını kabul etmeyip doğuma karar vermişlerdir. Terminasyon kararı verilen olgular başarılı geçebilecek ameliyat sonrası hayatı boyunca sekel kalmayacak olan Özofagus Atrezisi, Diaphragma Hernisi ve Posterior Üretral Valv tanılarına sahip olması oldukça üzerinde tartışılması gereken bir konudur.
Bu sunumda bu üç vakayı örnekleme üzerinden, antenatal konseylerde çocuk cerrahlarının olmazsa olmaz daimi parçası olması gerektiği ve aynı zamanda etkin rol oynamasının , gebe ve ailelerinde konsey kararlarındaki soru işaretlerini azaltacağı inancını paylaşmak istedik.
